LPA east of Visayas develops into tropical depression — PAGASA
The low pressure area (formerly LPA 07a) east of the Visayas has developed into a tropical depression with the international name Haishen, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday.
In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said Tropical Depression Haishen was located 1,265 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gusts of up to 70 kph.
Haishen is forecast to move west-northwestward over the next 12 hours and may enter the PAR on Monday night or early Tuesday, when it will be assigned the local name Josie.
The tropical depression is expected to exit the PAR by Wednesday, July 15, PAGASA said.— MCG, GMA News
