Habagat to bring rains, cloudy skies to western Luzon
The Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, is forecast to bring rains to the western section of Luzon on Monday, July 20, the state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday.
In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan.
Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, the Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Lanao del Norte, Cavite, Batangas, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands.
Localized thunderstorms will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides in areas affected by the Habagat and localized thunderstorms due to moderate to at times heavy rains or during severe thunderstorms.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected across the country.
Waves may range from 0.6 to 1.8 meters over Southern Luzon, the Visayas, Mindanao, and the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon, and from 0.6 to 1.5 meters over the rest of Luzon.
At the PAGASA Science Garden in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Sunday was 32.6 degrees Celsius at 2 p.m., while the lowest was 26.2 degrees Celsius at 7 a.m.
Sunrise in Metro Manila on Monday will be at 5:36 a.m.— MCG, GMA News
