PAGASA: 10 areas under Signal No. 1 as Tropical Depression Luis lingers east of Aurora

Tropical Depression Luis kept its strength as it remained stationary over the sea east of Aurora province, according to PAGASA.

In its 5 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, the state weather bureau said 10 areas in Luzon are still under Signal No. 1.

"Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 1," it added.

The following areas are under Signal No. 1:

• the central and eastern portions of Cagayan (Enrile, Tuguegarao City, Peñablanca, Piat, Santo Niño, Camalaniugan, Tuao, Lal-Lo, Gonzaga, Alcala, Amulung, Santa Teresita, Baggao, Buguey, Solana, Rizal, Santa Ana, Gattaran, Iguig, Lasam, Aparri, Ballesteros, Abulug, Allacapan, Pamplona)
• Isabela
• Quirino
• the eastern and southern portions of Apayao (Flora, Santa Marcela, Conner, Pudtol, Luna)
• the eastern portion of Kalinga (City of Tabuk, Tanudan, Pinukpuk, Rizal)
• the eastern portion of Mountain Province (Paracelis, Natonin)
• the eastern portion of Ifugao (Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista)
• the northern portion of Aurora (Dinalungan, Casiguran, Dilasag, Dipaculao, Baler)
• Polillo Islands
• the northern portion of Camarines Norte (Daet, Talisay, Paracale, Jose Panganiban, Capalonga, Vinzons)

The center of Tropical Depression Luis was estimated at 130 kilometers east southeast of Casiguran, Aurora. It is almost stationary, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h.

"It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone," PAGASA said.

Luis will move generally northwestward and may make landfall or pass close to Northern Luzon Monday night or Tuesday early morning.

"Afterwards, it will sharply turn east northeastward while moving away from the Philippine landmass. The forecast track is highly uncertain and may change in the succeeding bulletin," PAGASA added.

Meanwhile, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte will experience rains with gusty winds as a result of the tropical depression.

Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, the rest of CALABARZON, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, and Marinduque will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms also due to Luis.

The Southwest Monsoon will bring cloudy skies and scattered rains and thunderstorms to Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
