Habagat rains to drench Luzon, Visayas on Monday — PAGASA

The Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, is expected to drench Luzon and the Visayas on Monday, August 10, 2026, state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said monsoon rains are expected over Ilocos Sur, La Union, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.

The Habagat is expected to bring occasional rains over Metro Manila, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Antique, and the rest of the Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Meanwhile, also due to the Habagat, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over the Negros Island Region and the rest of Western Visayas and Luzon.

In Batanes, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected due to the trough of Tropical Cyclone Dolphin.

In the rest of the country, localized thunderstorms are forecast to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

As of 3 p.m., a tropical storm with an international name “Peilu” (formerly LPA 08c) is being monitored by PAGASA outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Peilu was estimated at 2,200 km east of extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and gusts up to 80 kph.

Strong winds and rough coastal waters are expected in the northern and western sections of Luzon, with waves running from 2.8 meters to 4.0 meters.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are expected in the rest of the country, with waves running from 1.5 meters to 3.4 meters in the rest of Luzon, and 1.2 meters to 3.1 meters in Visayas and Mindanao.

At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Sunday reached 28.7 degrees Celsius at 2 p.m., while the lowest temperature was logged at 24.5 degrees Celsius at 5:30 a.m.
