LIVE UPDATES: Habagat rains affect parts of PH on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026

What began as a clogged dam quickly turned into a terrifying disaster as raging floodwaters carved a new path through a residential community in Lubao, Pampanga, washing away six houses and forcing more than 100 residents to evacuate.

Part of the sixth house collapsed in the middle of our live report over 24 Oras Weekend as powerful floodwaters overflowing from the river surged through the area, eroding the soil beneath the already doomed structure until it finally gave way.

An Orange rainfall warning has been raised over Zambales and portions of Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Bulacan as of Sunday evening—a downgrade from the Red warnings issued earlier in the day.

Amid the heavy rain due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), PAGASA raised Orange rainfall warnings over the following areas in its 8 p.m. advisory:

• Bulacan (Hagonoy, Calumpit, Paombong, Malolos)

The power supply in Pampanga remains operational despite several areas being submerged in floodwaters for almost three weeks, Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda said Sunday.

In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB, Pineda said parts of Pampanga have been submerged in waist-deep floodwaters for nearly three weeks amid continuous heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat.

Tropical Depression Pilandok maintained its strength as it moved northwestward slowly over the sea east of Extreme Northern Luzon, the state weather bureau PAGASA said in its 5 p.m. bulletin.

As of 4 p.m., Pilandok was located at 1,180 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

A Red rainfall warning remains in effect over Zambales, Tarlac, Bataan, and two other areas in Luzon, as of Sunday afternoon on August 30.

Amid the heavy downpour due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), PAGASA raised Red, Orange, and Yellow rainfall warnings over the following areas in its 5 p.m. advisory:

•    Bulacan( Hagonoy, Malolos, Paombong, Calumpit)

The water level at Marikina River remained at first alarm on Sunday afternoon, August 30, after it subsided to 14.5 meters.

As of 4:00 p.m., the water level went down to 14.5 meters. This is a downgrade from the 154.8 meters recorded at 2 p.m., the Marikina Public Information Office said via a social media advisory,

The Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, is expected to bring more rain over Luzon and the Visayas on Monday, August 31, 2026, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the Habagat is expected to bring monsoon rains over the Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga.

Metro Manila recorded around 186 millimeters (mm) of rainfall in 23 hours from 9 a.m. on August 29 to 8 a.m. on August 30 amid rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Sunday.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon has relieved the maintenance chief of the Las Piñas–Muntinlupa District Engineering Office (LMDEO) over alleged slow disaster response and neglect of duty.

In a memorandum dated August 29, Dizon cited Loreto Balena Jr.'s “unsatisfactory performance, lack of urgency, and delayed response to calamities” as grounds for his relief.

Amid the continuous rain due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), a red rainfall warning has been raised by PAGASA over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, and six other areas in Luzon on Sunday afternoon.
