At least five persons deprived of liberty (PDL) at the El Salvador City Jail in Misamis Oriental have completed a reformation program that could help them as they turn over a new leaf once they get out from prison.
The five PDLs are set to be released after availing of the government’s Plea Bargaining Agreement.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Northern Mindanao (BJMP-10) placed the five PDLs under an 18-day reformation program called Katatagan, Kalusugan, at Damayan sa Komunidad (KKDK).
This was the first time that the city jail implemented the KKDK program, which prepares the PDL as they go back to the community.
“Gina-prepare sila sa ilang eventual release sa atong community para sa integration back to our community na dili na sila mobalik sa ilang daan na bisyo,” City Jail Warden Jail Senior Inspector Don Felix Boado said.
“Ang six modules is ang family module which is participated by their families so this gives significance kay ga build sila stronger connection with their family and also sa community,” Boado added.
The city jail also promotes various livelihood programs inside the detention facility, including vegetable gardening.
The proceeds from the vegetables will be divided among the PDLs so they can also support their families.
Currently, the city jail has 99 PDLs, most of whom are facing charges for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
