The jail warden of the Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail (MOPJ) was suspended for failure to capture the inmates who escaped from the detention facility in 2023.

MOPJ warden, retired Colonel Robert Roy Bahian, was placed under preventive suspension while the investigation conducted by the Provincial Administration Office continues.

GMA Regional TV One Mindanao tried to reach Bahian for comment but has not received one as of this writing.

MOPJ assistant jail warden Francis Sarangay is heading the jail facility for now.

Sarangay vowed to manage the MOPJ to the best of his ability and strictly monitor the performance of the jail guards.

The MOPJ management also explained to the families of persons deprived of liberty (PDL) the changes implemented in the jail facility.
