A Philippine Airlines flight from Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental to Manila made an emergency landing at Iloilo International Airport at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2026, the airport said in an advisory.
The PAL PR 2544 flight reportedly experienced insufficient oxygen supply in the cabin.
“Reports indicate that the oxygen supply in the cabin was insufficient after the aircraft reached its cruising altitude of 32,000 ft,” the advisory read.
While the aircraft landed safely, some passengers required immediate medical attention upon arrival.
One of the passengers, Stacy Alcantara-Garcia, tells GMA Regional TV News that passengers were "becoming irate, anxious, and generally uncomfortable" when the cabin was still warm after the plane took off in Dumaguete City.
"When the aircon still wasn't working even after the plane took off, people were already becoming irate, anxious, and generally uncomfortable. It was so warm. A lot of passengers were using the air safety card as makeshift fans. Some passengers stood up to speak with the flight attendants. Children were also crying because it was unbearably hot. The passenger behind me had been complaining she couldn't breathe," she said.
After the plane landed in Iloilo, several passengers were booked for the 9:20 p.m. flight. Other passengers would reportedly take the 11 p.m. flight and the 3 p.m. flight on Monday, April 20.
