A woman in Cebu City is determined to report to the police an incident on board a modern jeepney where a person with disability (PWD) allegedly assaulted her.
The incident was captured on video.
The woman, Maricel Martil, was on her way home to Minglanilla with her seven-year-old daughter after attending a therapy session for her child, who is also a PWD.
Martil said the man sat beside her, and she noticed him limping.
“Pwerte gyud niyang bahoa pagsulod.
Martil said the altercation began when the PWD passenger allegedly called her “baboy” (pig) after complaining about the seat.
Martil claimed the man struck her on the shoulder before deciding to get off the vehicle.
Martil also said she feared for her safety after the man threatened to stab her. She expressed concern that he might have been carrying a weapon.
Martil said she will have the incident entered into the police blotter to prevent other passengers from experiencing the same.
She also urged drivers and conductors to be more cautious in allowing individuals to board public transport.
