A two-year-old girl was found dead in a hole filled with water right behind her family’s house in Barangay Guintigui-an, Ormoc City.

Based on police investigation, the child’s mother left the house early in the morning reportedly to buy school supplies. She left her daughter with her sister-in-law.

When the mother returned home, her daughter had gone missing.

They searched for the child and found her floating in the water in a hole dug behind the house to be used as a septic tank.

The family did not report the incident immediately to the police believing that what happened to the child was but an accident.

Initial investigation found that the sister-in-law was busy washing clothes that she did not notice the girl already missing.

“Nagkuan siya sa paglaba, sige siya’g laba ba, na busy siya sa paglaba ba,” said P/Capt. Ramil Caldona, Officer-in-charge of the Ormoc City Police Station 2.
