Two strong aftershocks from recent powerful earthquakes in Sarangani and Davao Occidental jolted Davao Occidental afternoon on Monday, July 6, 2026.

According to the Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the first aftershock was recorded at magnitude 5.8 around 4:11 p.m.

The quake was located 04.85°N, 125.44°E - 063 km S 02° E of Balut Island in Sarangani town and had a depth of nine kilometers.

At round 4:41 p.m., a magnitude 5.0 earthquake rocked the same area with a depth of five kilometers.

PHIVOLCS said the tremors were both aftershocks of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani and magnitude 6.5 earthquake that jolted Davao Occidental.
