Four persons deprived or liberty (PDL) at the Aklan District Jail were injured when a commotion erupted at the male dormitory.

According to the spokesperson of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-6, the commotion erupted when five PDLs figured in a fight while getting food.

Their groups then swooped in, which ended in three inmates getting stabbed. A fourth inmate who tried to intervene also sustained injuries.

Two PDLs were identified to have stabbed the victims. They have been separated from the rest of the inmates.

“Right now, ang pinaka-first natin na step is they have been separated from the rest of the PDLs sa jail so as to prevent and mabigyan natin ng precaution ang dalawang PDL na ito,” said Atty. Juniven Umadhay, spokesperson of BJMP-6.

The three PDLs stabbed are recuperating in the hospital, as of this writing.
