Government forces destroyed a marijuana plantation worth around P6 million in Loreto, Agusan del Sur over the weekend.
During the operation, troops from the 60th Infantry Battalion, police officers and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) collected samples of the marijuana plants while the remaining plants were burned on site.
According to the 10th Infantry Division (10ID), an estimated 12,000-square-meter marijuana plantation containing approximately 23,431 fully grown marijuana plants was eradicated.
10ID commander, Major General Alvin Luzon, lauded the troops for the successful operation.
"I commend our troops and our partner agencies in the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for their unwavering commitment to the government's campaign against illegal drugs,” Luzon said.
“This successful operation demonstrates the strength of interagency cooperation in protecting our communities from illegal activities. We will continue to support law enforcement efforts to ensure that those who violate the law are held accountable," Luzon added.
