Prosecutors have entered into evidence the November 2024 video in which Vice President Sara Duterte allegedly threatened President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.; First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos; and former Speaker Martin Romualdez to be killed.
This was made on Day 2 of the impeachment trial against Duterte on Tuesday, July 8, 2026.
The portion of the two-hour online press conference video showed Duterte saying the following:
“Huwag kang mag-alala, Ma'am sa security ko, kasi may kinausap na ako na tao. Sabi ko sa kanya, kapag pinatay ako, patayin mo si BBM, si Liza Araneta, at si Martin Romualdez.”
"No joke, no joke. Nagbilin na ako, Ma'am. 'Pag mamatay ako, sabi ko, huwag ka tumigil ha, hanggang hindi mo mapatay sila. And then he said yes.”
The Senate impeachment court allowed prosecutors to present only a portion of the two-hour video “to save time and support the allegation, from the view of the prosecution.”
The court will rule if it will admit the full two-hour video as evidence.
The video was presented for it to be identified by John Mark Calilung, senior agent of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Calilung was the agent who investigated the authenticity of the online press conference on the Facebook page of former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
He took the witness stand on Day 2 of the trial.
Duterte’s lawyer, Atty. Carlo Narvasa, objected repeatedly to the video's presentation, saying the questioning of the prosecution was misleading, the witness was incompetent, and the NBI's authentication documents had issues.
Senator Francis Escudero, the presiding officer of the impeachment court, said the defense will have the opportunity to present its own evidence.
The impeachment court also allowed the prosecution to present other videos related to the allegations of grave threat.
Calilung testified that the videos were obtained from official sources and underwent manual verification to confirm authenticity.
He said the NBI conducted an open-source investigation into the videos.
“Nag-gather po ako ng iba't ibang information na available sa internet wherein anyone can access po yung data na yan,” Calilug said.
“Yung pinagkuhanan ko, Your Honor, ng mga information na yan is from the official websites and official webpages po to ensure that the content is accurate,” he added.
Calilung said his superiors reviewed the verification and followed digital forensic procedures, which are accepted in courts.
