Provincial public utility vehicles (PUVs) entering Cagayan de Oro City will now be required to end their trips at designated terminals instead of proceeding to the city proper as part of the implementation of the Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP).

The Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) of Cagayan de Oro City has begun to enforce the ban on PUVs with provincial routes from entering the city center on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

These vehicles will now only be allowed to travel up to designated major terminals, including Agora Terminal on the eastern side and Bulua Westbound Terminal on the western side of the city.

RTA said route adjustments will also be implemented. For vehicles coming from the western side of the city, those entering from Opol will proceed directly to west coastal road until reaching the westbound terminal, and the same route will be used when exiting the city.

Meanwhile, vehicles coming from the eastern side via Barangay Puerto will continue along CM Recto Avenue, then turn right toward the east coastal road until reaching Agora Terminal. The same route will also be used for vehicles leaving the city.

“Atong tumong ug tinguha nga ma-decongest ang cagayan de oro city at lesst ang mag-saoy-saoy o magruta ra gyud sa sulod katung mga city bound nga mga public utility vehicle,” RTA spokesperson, James Andrade, said.

RTA added that the first day of implementation served as a dry run, but citation tickets may be issued to violators in the coming days.

During the initial implementation, several provincial-route PUVs were already observed following the newly designated routes.

“Mangayo ta og dispensa gamay sa atong mga affected nga commuters labi na tung kaduha na musakay kay didto man gyud gyapon ni padulong puhon-puhon labi na og ibalik na o full implement ang LPTRP,” Andrade added.
