The City Health Office (CHO) of Zamboanga City has reported a rise in dengue transmission in the city.

Based on data, dengue cases reached 1,184 from January 1 to July 25, 2026, which is 20 percent higher than the 989 cases logged during the same period in 2025.

The city government added that from July 19 to 25, 2026 alone, 72 cases were reported.

“Recent case clusters were identified in 36 barangays, including sustained and widespread transmission,” the city government said.

CHO added that the number of those who died has reached 11, most of whom are children 10 years old and below, as of July 27.

Health authorities urged households, schools, workplaces, and barangays to intensify dengue prevention efforts by following the 5S strategy: search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, secure self-protection, seek early consultation, support targeted fogging, and sustain hydration.

Authorities urged the public to seek medical attention if any of these signs appear: severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding from the nose or gums, blood in vomit or stool, rapid or difficult breathing, unusual drowsiness or restlessness, extreme weakness or thirst, among others.
