Mayor Benjie Oliva of the Municipality of Catigbian in Bohol is offering a P100,000 reward for information that can lead to the person behind a threat against a school in the town and schools in the neighboring municipality of Balilihan.

The threat was made against the following schools:

  • Haguilanan High School, Catigbian
  • San Roque National High School, Balilihan
  • Congressman Pablo Malasarte National High School, Balilihan
  • Hanopol National High School, Balilihan

Oliva said his administration will not take the threat lightly.

“So threats like this, we will not take it lightly…” he said.

Oliva said a teacher informed him about the threat against Haguilanan High School on August 18, 2026.

The school has 195 students and 17 teachers.

Oliva then coordinated with the town police and PNP Cybercrime Unit so that the incident can be investigated.

Oliva also called for an emergency meeting with the Municipal Peace and Order Council on August 19.

The security threat against the Bohol schools is just among the latest made against schools across the country, which have become frequent since the deadly shooting at a school in Tacloban City in June 2026.
