Hayley Atwell cancels ComicCon Asia appearance due to ‘political unrest’ in PHL

Agent Carter will no longer be joining the assembly that is ComicCon Asia.

The official page for the convention, scheduled to happen this weekend, announced that British-American actor Hayley Atwell's appearance has been cancelled.

In a message sent to the organizers, Atwell said that "she is not comfortable making the trip" to the Philippines due to the "perceived 'political unrest in the country'."

ComicCon in their statement said that the convention remains a safe space for people and it will continue with its goal of "shining a light on Asian artistry and talent."

The scheduled attendance of legendary comic book writer Stan Lee at the convention was also cancelled due to his ongoing battle with pneumonia.
