Stolen baby retrieved; kidnapper pleads for forgiveness

A kidnapped baby was returned to his mother in Novaliches, Quezon City on Tuesday after a concerned citizen alerted the police to the suspect's whereabouts, which led to her arrest.

Sean Singson, only 12 days old, had been missing since November 22, when his mother Febe Singson handed him to the suspect identified as Len Reyes so she could get some documents photocopied.

According to a "24 Oras" report by Ivan Mayrina, the tipster notified the police after seeing the "24 Oras" report on his kidnapping.

"Rumisponde naman itong follow-up team namin," said QCPD Station 4 Superintendent Carlito Grijaldo. "Inabot nila sa loob ng bahay 'yung suspek. Sumama naman ng maayos yung suspek at nakuha nga 'yung bata."

Reyes asked Singson to forgive her for running off with Sean, claiming she was compelled to steal the child due to a recent miscarriage and to keep her husband from leaving her.

"Na-desperate lang ako...Naguluhan lang 'yung utak ko kasi, naano ako na baka iwanan ako ng asawa ko kasi wala kaming anak. Kaya sana, patawaran niyo ako pero inalagaan ko 'yung anak niyo. Hindi [ko] po intensyon..." Reyes said.

However, Singson said she was far from dropping charges against Reyes.

"Nagmamakaawa siyang hindi siya ikulong. Ay jusko, sa rehas ka, 'day. Kapal ng mukha mo. Wala kang karapatan, gumawa ka ng anak mo," Singson said.
