QCPD eyes robbery as motive for stabbing Ombudsman prosecutor, 2 persons of interest in police custody

Two persons of interest in the killing of an assistant special prosecutor of the Office of the Ombudsman are now in the custody of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

Police have yet to disclose the names of the persons of interest, according to Super Radyo dzBB's Rodil Vega.

Meanwhile, QCPD director Police Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel said they are looking into robbery as the motive for the stabbing 33-year-old Madonna Joy Tanyag.

They have formed a Special investigation Task Group (SITG) Tanyag to probe the incident.

"Robbery po ang isa sa mga tinitingnan nating motibo sa pagkakapatay sa biktima, subalit lahat ng maaaring anggulo sa pagpaslang sa biktima ay imbestigahan din natin," Esquivel said.

"Aside from the immediate creation of SITG Tanyag, police investigators are reviewing closed circuit television recordings at the crime scene to identify the suspect," Esquivel added.

Tanyag was stabbed to death after attending a hearing at the Sandiganbayan.

She bought milk tea from a store along Visayas Avenue and was about to board her vehicle when the suspect attacked her.

The Office of the Ombudsman expressed sympathies to the grieving family of Tanyag. — BAP, GMA News
