Asec. Uson accepts Mariel De Leon's critique, vows to do her best in new post

Bashing from netizens aside, it looks like bad blood doesn't run between Asec. Mocha Uson and Binibining Pilipinas International 2017 Mariel De Leon.

On Thursday, the newly appointed assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office acknowledged the beauty queen's tweets about her and seemingly apologized.

"Sorry po Bb. Pilipinas [Mariel De Leon.] [I.'ll] take note po of your tweets at pagbubutihin ko po para sa bayan at para sa ['yo] po. Salamat po ma['am]," Uson said.

De Leon for her part had released a statement about the issue and wished Uson luck.

The beauty queen initially lamented the news of Uson's appointment, saying in a series of tweets, "I love my country. It breaks my heart to know that the Philippines has come to this. I'm proud to wear the sash that says 'Philippines' but I hope that change will come. And I hope that I can use my voice and my platform to be part of that change."

On Thursday, De Leon clarified that she will use her title "as a platform to promote unity for the country" and declared that she, like all Filipinos, simply loves her country.
