Duterte on Trillanes’ dare to sign bank waiver: Don’t get evidence from me

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday lashed out anew at his critic, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, for challenging him again to sign a waiver to reveal his bank accounts.

Duterte suggested that Trillanes should not make him a source.

“Ganito ‘yan eh. If Trillanes wants to find something of fault with me. Tell him, ‘Go somewhere else and fly a kite,’” he told reporters at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

“In the same manner that if he wants to get evidence, do not get it from my mouth. You must be stupid, even if it is true or false. Bakit kita—why would I give you the pleasure? Kung gusto siyang maghanap, ‘di maghanap siya. Bakit niya ako damayin?”

Duterte arrived in Manila from Davao City on late Monday night and visited the wake of two soldiers who were recently killed in an operation in Marawi City.

Asked again if he will sign a waiver after the recent dare, Duterte said Trillanes only has an intelligence quotient level of 15 and criticized his “antics” at the Senate.

“Ilang beses ba—niloloko niya ako. Taranta—sabi na, ilang beses sa kampanya?” he said.

“Kaya sabi ko, ‘Ikaw, Trillanes, kung bright ka talaga, ‘t— ina, Vice President ka na ngayon. Eh bakit ka natalo?’” he added.

Duterte also pointed out that he already signed a waiver during the 2016 presidential campaign.

He was referring to the Special Power of Attorney (SPA) that he signed to let his then lawyer and now chief presidential legal counsel Sec. Salvador Panelo get bank certifications that would dispute Trillanes’ claims.

Panelo has issued a statement that the SPA signed by Duterte last year was still valid.

“The waiver issued by the PRRD will allow the bank to divulge the transactional details of PRRD's account,” he added. — BAP, GMA News
