TRANSPORT AGENCIES ON HEIGHTENED ALERT

DOTr activates 'Oplan Biyaheng Ayos for Undas'

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade on Friday ordered all transportation agencies to help motorists and passengers 24 hours a day from October 30 to November 6, in accordance with "Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2017."

Offices of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and its attached agencies were ordered to stay on heightened alert to ensure the safety and security of passengers flocking to their respective provinces for All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.

All transport terminals, booths, and counters must be manned throughout the eight-day "monitored travel period" to prevent long queues and other untoward incident, the DOTr said.

Any accidents and emergencies must be reported by concerned agencies in real time via hotlines and feedback mechanisms that will be adequately manned.

Three days before All Saints' Day, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board will issue special permits for additional bus service to catch the passenger spillover from fully-booked provincial bus lines.
