Gatchalian explains cuss tweets to trolls: May hangganan din ako

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian explained on Wednesday why he replied using cuss words to his social media bashers.

In a text message to GMA News Online, Gatchalian said he has been “provoked” for years.

“First, these are trolls. They have been provoking me since before the campaign. They’re designed [to] demean you to bring out the worst in a person,” he said.

“Second, I’m also human like everyone else. I have a breaking point. I can tolerate insults and criticisms pero may hangganan din ako,” Gatchalian added.

On New Year’s Day, netizens reacted to Gatchalian’s tweets saying “ulol” and “gago” to some of his Twitter followers.

The argument on social media began when Gatchalian, on his personal account @stgatchalian, commented on a news article, saying “The nation already lost its soul in the last 6 years.” The article was based on a statement of the former ruling Liberal Party's statement that 2018 “may be the fight for [the] nation’s soul.”

One of Gatchalian’s followers replied to the senator’s tweet with screenshots of his posts back in 2010 and 2012. The said tweets showed Gatchalian praising then President Benigno Aquino III as “nice and very attentive.” He also thanked Aquino’s “anti-corruption efforts.”

Another follower replied, saying: “trapo kayo Gatchalian at Angara.” In response, the senator said in separate tweets “gago” and “gago ka!”

Gatchalian also replied with an “ulol” remark to one of his followers who called him “ingrato.” —LBG, GMA News
