PCOO apologizes to Gatchalian after online blunder

The Presidential Communications Operations Office has apologized to Senator Sherwin Gatchalian following its recent gaffe where the PCOO had identified the lawmaker as "Winston" in one of its news releases.

"We apologize to the good senator and our readers for this mistake. It is our duty to disseminate accurate information and this error is not in accordance with the standards of the President’s communications team," the PCOO said in a news release dated June 23.

Gatchalian, on Saturday, called out the PCOO for its mistake: "May pag-asa pa ba ang PCOO???" [Is there still hope for PCOO?]

The report mentioned that Gatchalian had attended the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and several schools for the implementation of the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.

Meanwhile, the PCOO vowed to apply "stricter measures in order to avoid the oversight."

The PCOO also drew criticisms from netizens this month after they used "Norwegia" instead of Norway in a post about the outgoing Norwegian ambassador's visit to Malacañang. —Anna Felicia Bajo/LBG, GMA News
