Alleged big-time drug lord Prevendido, son test positive for gunpowder

Suspected big-time drug lord Richard Prevendido and his son Jason both tested positive for gunpowder burns in a paraffin test.

According to a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday, authorities said this proves that father and son could have fired at police on Friday.

The Prevendidos were killed in a police operation in Landheights subdivision in Barangay Balabago, Jaro, Iloilo on Friday as police were serving their warrants of arrest.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa on Saturday said the elder Prevendido  resisted arrest.

Richard Prevendido is known to the police as the number one drug lord in Western Visayas and leader of the Prevendido Drugs Group.

Dela Rosa told Super Radyo dzBB that of the five suspected big-time drug lords on President Rodrigo Duterte's drug list in the region, only Prevendido did not present himself at Camp Crame to give his statement and be reassessed,  the only one who chose to remain in hiding.

Police are targeting the arrest of Prevendido's alleged cohorts operating in Iloilo and Capiz next.—KG, GMA News
