Ozamiz police seize P112 million worth of shabu from Parojinogs

Some 14 kilos of shabu worth P112 million were seized by the Ozamiz City police in a series of operations in Misamis Occidental on Wednesday.

Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido, Ozamiz City police chief, said the illegal drugs seized were old stocks of the Parojinogs, several members of which were earlier either killed or arrested following a bloody pre-dawn drug raid that left 15 people dead.

“Lumang supply iyan, pagdating ko sa Ozamiz tinago nila. Ngayon lang inilabas dahil nakita nila, na naghahanap sila ng pera at patay na yung papa nila,” Espenido said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV.

“According sa nakuha naming information up to 86 kilos iyan last year. ‘Yung transaksyon nila, ‘yung taga-Cebu, magpupunta sa  Ozamiz, sakay lang ng barko. Ganundin ‘yung taga-Lanao, taga-General Santos,” he said.

The local police earlier said it had seized P32 million worth of suspected shabu from a certain Butch Merino in separate anti-illegal drug operations conducted Wednesday.

Merino was reportedly a former driver and bodyguard of detained Ozamiz Vice Mayor Princess Nova Parojinog.

Police said Merino was apprehended at a checkpoint and they recovered from him one kilogram of shabu worth P8 million, a firearm, and two magazines.

In the interview, Espenido said Merino identified his supplier as Melden Rabarez, who was later arrested in an entrapment operation together with a certain Roselyn Walohan.

Another kilogram of shabu and cash worth more than P27 million were seized from Rabarez.

Espenido said the shabu they seized were supposed to be picked up by a distributor in Lanao.

“Ang nakuha natin ay bago magtransaksyon sa taga-Lanao. May taga-Lanao na pupunta sa Ozamiz para sa meet up, kukunin ‘yung shabu. Hindi na nakarating doon dahil na tip natin, nakunan natin ng baril ‘yung naaresto,” he said.

In a report, Chief Inspector Cipriano Bazar Jr., acting head of Regional Tactical Operations Center, said Ozamiz City police then conducted a simultaneous serving of search warrant Wednesday night which led to the arrest of Melodin Malingin and Gaudencio Malingin, supporters of the Parojinogs.

However, Maychell Parojinog Gumapac, Manuelito Francisco, Rizalino Francisco, June Francisco, Ricardo Parojinog, and Christopher Parojinog were at large.

Confiscated from the house of the Malingins were eight kilos of shabu in eight plastic bags and a rolled aluminum foil.

Recovered from the house of Gumapac were two kilos of shabu in two plastic bags, one unit steel vault, one airsoft rifle, and one long magazine.

Seized from the house of Franciscos were one M4 Boost Master, three short M16 magazine, one bandoler, 90 pieces live ammunition of M16, two rifle grenade launchers, three live ammunition of M203 and 20 empty cartridges of M16.

Meanwhile, recovered from the house of the Parojinogs were one M16 rifle, one steel short magazine, 19 live ammunition of 5.56 caliber, and one hand grenade.

Espenido said he received information that Vice Mayor Parojinog still has a say on the alleged drug transactions even if she is detained at the PNP Custodial Center.

“Sinabi na may magtawag kay Vice Mayor sa kulungan para sa transaksyon,” he said.— MDM/RSJ, GMA News
