‘Very slim chance of survival’ for those still trapped in Naga, Cebu landslide — mayor

There is only a “very slim chance” of survival for around 40 people still trapped under the landslide at Barangay Tinaan in Naga City, Cebu, mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong said Sunday.

Chiong said she was informed of this assessment by Baltazar Tribunalo, the ground commander of the Incident Command Post in the barangay as the search entered its entered fourth day.

“I know that in reality very slim na but the thing is 'yung mga rescuers natin they are still very motivated na mag-continue sa operations,” Chiong told GMA News.

She vowed to continue searching until all missing residents are accounted for.

“I want to continue to recover everyone,” the mayor added.

Some 30 houses were buried in the landslide that struck the barangays of Naalad and Tinaan at around 6 a.m. on September 20.

At least 43 bodies have been recovered so far. — BM, GMA News
