OFW who accused employer’s son of rape rescued

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia — The Filipina domestic helper in Taif who accused the son of her employer of sexually abusing her has been rescued, a day after her story was reported by GMA News.

With coordination from Saudi police and her employer, staff members deployed by Consul General Edgar Badajos fetched "Jenny" from her employer's house and brought her to a police station.

"Para akong binuhusan ng malamig na tubig at nabunutan ng tinik. Hindi ko alam kung hihimatayin ba ako o kung iiyak ba ako," she said.

"Eto na 'yun, eto na 'yung pagkakataon ko para makaalis dito, akala ko mamamatay na lang ba ako dito."

Jenny said her employer talked to her inquiring about the incident. She said she was surprised when he gave her her passport and resident permit (Iqama) and told her to get dressed. He also paid her unpaid salary.

The OFW is now staying at a social welfare agency shelter in Taif.

Badajos said Jenny will be sent home to the Philippines after she agreed not to file charges against the suspect.

Jenny said she agreed for a settlement so that she can come home immediately.
