Microsoft working on fix for Xbox Live profile problem
Software giant Microsoft assured subscribers of its XBox Live gaming service it is working to address XBox Live profile errors that lock them out of the online network.
Gaming site Joystiq.com cited complaints by subscribers who received error codes of "801540B7" and "80070571," both of which it said relate to Live profiles.
"We have recently identified an Xbox Live profile data error that results in Error Code '801540B7' for a small number of Xbox Live members. The error instructs users to attempt to re-download their Xbox Live profile and directs them to customer service support for further assistance," Joystiq quoted a Microsoft spokesperson as saying.
It said the Microsoft spokesperson also apologized "for the inconvenience this has caused to our loyal Xbox Live members and are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible."
On the other hand, Joystiq said it heard about these problems only after the new Xbox Live dashboard became available earlier this month.
Joystiq cited cases of subscribers getting locked out of the network, unable to purchase content from Microsoft's online store, and prevented from downloading their profiles.
A separate article on PC Magazine noted Microsoft began a massive overhaul of Xbox Live on Dec. 5, beginning with the new-look dashboard and the integration of its Bing search engine with the Kinect peripheral for its Xbox 360 consoles.
"The major additions in the works include a voice search capability that will work with the Xbox Live Marketplace, Zune Video, and selected content partners," it said.
Also, Microsoft plans to add content and apps in the coming days from new entertainment partners, including EPIX, ESPN, Hulu Plus, Netflix, and MSNBC's Today, with many more deals being readied for additional content in 2012. — TJD, GMA News
