BBM app for Android coming by end of September – report

After users were misled by a malware posing as BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), users of mobile devices running Google's Android can finally expect the real thing to come by late September.

 

BlackBerry India managing director Sunil Lalvani was quoted on India-based IBN Live as saying the app is due for Android by "summer."

 

"The service is coming to Android this summer. But summer as per North America, where it remains 'til September," he said when asked about availability details. 

 

Lalvani pointed out summer does not technically end until September in the United States. When asked if that means that BBM for Android would be available before the end of September, he answered "in the affirmative," the report said.

 

IBN Live noted BlackBerry had announced its plans to bring its BBM service to Android and to Apple's iOS.

 

The news of a BBM cross-platform app has alrady created so much buzz that many Android users were duped into downloading an adware disguised as a BBM app. – KDM, GMA News
