NAPOLCOM meets en banc after Duterte names generals allegedly involved in illegal drugs

The National Police Commission held an en banc meeting on Wednesday following President Rodrigo Duterte’s naming of police generals allegedly involved in illegal drugs.

According to a report on News TV Live, the en banc session was spearheaded by Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mike Sueno.

During his speech at the 69th anniversary of the Philippine Air Force on Tuesday, Duterte named five police generals allegedly involved in illegal drug operations.

He dubbed former Philippine National Police deputy director general Marcelo Garbo Jr as “protector of drug syndicates”.

He also named Vicente Loot, Bernardo Diaz, Edgardo Tinio, and Joel Pagdilao.

Garbo and Loot have already been relieved of their positions in PNP.

PNP Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa on Tuesday said he will give the police generals linked to illegal drugs the chance to clear their names when they report to him as Duterte ordered. —Kiersnerr Gerwin Tacadena/KG, GMA News
