‘Kiko’ slows down, to intensify into tropical storm within 24 hrs.
Tropical depression "Kiko" has slowed down as it traverses extreme northern Luzon, and is expected to intensify into a tropical storm within 24 hours.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, weather bureau PAGASA said "Kiko" was estimated 115 km West of Basco, Batanes at 10 a.m., packing maximum sustained winds of 60 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
"Kiko" now moves northwest at a much slower 10 kph.
It is still expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility late Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning.
Fisherfolk and those with small seacraft are advised not to venture out over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon due to "Kiko."
All tropical cyclone warning signals have now been lifted.
Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 250 km diameter of the tropical depression.
The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions.
Kiko is estimated to head to Taiwan before proceeding to China. — MDM, GMA News
