Bb. Pilipinas calls on Filipino pageant fans to vote for Nicole Borromeo

By Ron Lim

There's only three weeks left until the coronation night for the Miss International pageant in Japan, and the Binibining Pilipinas organization is calling on local pageant fans to vote and throw their support behind Binibining Pilipinas International Nicole Borromeo.

The organization made the plea on their official Instagram account, posting a graphic calling on people to vote for their delegate. In the caption to the post, the organization called on pageant fans to show their support for Nicole by downloading the Miss International app and voting for her there.

The Binibining Pilipinas organization held an official send-off party for Nicole Borromeo last September 27 at the Gateway Mall 2 Quantum Skyview. The party was also streamed live on the Binibining Pilipinas official YouTube channel.

Nicole is looking to bring home the country's seventh Miss International crown. The country has been winning the Miss International since 1964 starting with Gemma Cruz. The most recent Philippine winner was Kylie Verzosa, who won the crown in 2016.

Nicole is also looking to surpass the performance of Binibining Pilipinas International Hannah Arnold, who made it all the way to the Top 15 of the Miss International pageant.

Hannah had the full support of the country behind her, with two send-offs organized for her before her flight to Japan. The Department of Science and Technology organized a send-off for her that she called “beautiful and heartwarming” and moved her to promise that she would raise the flag not only of the country but science and technology as well.

Before the start of the pageant, Hannah had revealed her national costume on Instagram. Designed by Manny Halasan, the costume was inspired by a Barbie doll wearing Filipiniana that Hannah had as a child, as well as Manny Halasan's own fond memories of his grandfather's antique tambourine.
