GOT7's Jinyoung in talks to star alongside Kim Go-eun in 'Yumi's Cells'
GOT7's Jinyoung is definitely making 2021 his year as he is reportedly in talks to star alongside Kim Go-eun in the second season of the drama Yumi's Cells.
Based on the hit webtoon, Yumi's Cells centers around an ordinary office worker named Yumi as told from the perspective of her brain cells that are controlling her thoughts, feelings, and actions.
South Korean actress Kim Go-eun has already confirmed partaking in the project as the titular character. Meanwhile, actor Ahn Bo-hyun is in the talks to play her romantic lead named Goo Woong.
SHINee's Minho will also be making a special aperance in the series, making it his second on the small screen after Lovestruck In the City.
Jinyoung, on the other hand, is reported to play the role of Yoo Babi, Yumi's second boyfriend in the second season of the drama.
In response to the reports, Jinyoung's management, BH Entertainment said, “He is reviewing the offer for the drama.”
Yumi's Cells will be directed by Lee Sang-yeob and is co-written by writers Song Jae-jung, Kim Yoon-joo, and Kim Kyung-ran.
Once confirmed, this will mark Jinyoung's third project for the year 2021, following The Angel Without, the Devil Within and Devil Judge with acclaimed K-drama actor Ji Sung.
In other GOT7 news, fellow member Youngjae will soon appear in the upcoming musical Midnight Sun alongside other K-pop idols like SHINee's Onew, DAY6's Wonpil, NU'EST's Baekho, and Lovelyz's Kei.
Midnight Sun is a romance musical about couple Hae Na and Ha Ram, who meet and sing the brightest song of the sun. Unknown to Ha Ram, Hae Na actually suffers from Xeroderma Pigmentosum, a rare genetic condition that prevents her from going out into the sunlight.
The story, which originated in Hong Kong in 1993, was made into a Japanese film and drama, which was then translated into a Hollywood film.
Youngjae, Onew, Wonpil, Baekho, and musical actor Jo Hoon will play Ha Ram, while Kei, and musical actors Kang Hye-in and Lee Ah-jin will play Hae Na.
