Adamson University to confer Kara David the 3rd Adamson Media Award


In their efforts to alleviate poverty and promote Vincentian values, Adamson University (AdU) hails Kara David as this year's recipient of the Adamson Media Award. On its third year, following the recognition of two other GMA seasoned broadcasters, Howie Severino in 2011 and Jessica Soho in 2012, David bested other nominees, Anthony Taberna and Ramon Bautista, proving her credibility in the field of broadcast journalism.
 
Among David's award - Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union - UNICEF Child Rights Award 2012 for her documentary "Alkansya" in October 2012 which centered on the present state on child laborers and recently her documentary "Ambulansyang de Paa" earned her a George Foster Peabody Award, considered to  be the Nobel Prize in electronic media to name a few. David was also the only woman named as one of 2007's Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines.
 
In 2002, David founded the Project Malasakit Foundation, Inc., a non-stock, non-profit foundation that sends poor Filipino children to school through conducting community outreach projects. Project Malasakit now send 15 scholars to school, most of which are child laborers and victims of child abuse.
 
David, along with other nominees, had undergone a selection process meeting the criteria set for the award which includes: the impact his/her work has in public information and education; his/her work can easily be understood by people of different backgrounds; his/her work ethics evidently present in her presentations in pursuit of truth and knowledge in public service.  
The Adamson University Media Awards, brainchild of the College of Education and Liberal Arts through the efforts of the Department of Communication, aims to recognize Outstanding Media Practitioners (Print, Radio, Television, Film, Photography and New Media) for their contribution in the advancement of the profession especially in the field of Public Information and Education. The awarding ceremonies will be on the 13th of February, 2 p.m. at the Adamson University Theater. Press release from Adamson University
