How to like Facebook posts even if you're offline

Users of Facebook can now like posts even while offline, after the social networking giant updated its mobile apps for iOS and Android this week.

The upgraded app, now available on Apple's App Store and Google Play, also features bug fixes and reliability improvements.

A change log of the Android app indicated a user can:

  • Like posts, photos and Pages even when offline
  • Remove tags a user created
  • Remove tags of yourself your friends have created
  • Turn post notifications on and off

In addition, the app for iOS hinted at "improvements for reliability and speed."

On the other hand, a report on TechCrunch said the updated Facebook app appears to be trying to get more people opting into and using its new ambient proximity tool.

It noted a search box and invite button atop the Nearby Friends screen, which it said could be a jab at new direct competitor Foursquare Swarm.

"After I asked, Facebook confirmed that these new features exist, but that it only puts things in What’s New if they’re available to everyone. Nearby Friends is still rolling out and is US-only," it said. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
