Instagram updates Android app with quick edit feature

Users of Facebook-owned photo app Instagram using devices running Google's Android can now edit and share their photos faster with a new Quick Edit screen.

The quick edit/filter screen can be accessed on Version 7.3.0 of Instagram, Android-centric site Droid-Life.com reported.

While earlier versions of the Instagram app asked users to crop before editing, the new screen skips the edit screen and leads to the new quick-edit page.

It lets users "swipe across the screen to quickly adjust filters, before adding comments and tags," it added.

Also, the new screen contains a simpler caption box.

Users who want added editing tools can tap on the “Edit” button. they can tag people using another button.

The app's description on Google Play lists other changes:

- Trending tags and places
- Curated collections, a rotating selection of people and places selected by Instagram
- Places search
- Improved search
- Search by location
- Search all posts across username, name, hashtag or location.
