Roxanne Baeyens wears Miss Earth crown and sash for the first time
One queen reigned supreme in the first-ever virtual Miss Philippines Earth pageant on Sunday, and it was Baguio City's Roxanne Allison Baeyens.
The 23-year-old Filipino-Belgian beauty hailing from the country's Summer Capital posted a photo of herself wearing the official crown and sash shortly after the competition.
“What a Beautiful day to be on Earth,” Roxanne wrote on Instagram.
“Wore my crown and sash for the first time. Thank you everyone! I am overwhelmed with all the love,” she added.
Baeyens, an artist and commercial model, edged out 32 other candidates in this year’s Miss Earth Philippines competition, which was held virtually, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was the first-ever virtual presentation for a pageant, wherein the candidates and judges joined the competition from the comfort of their own homes.
For the final question and answer, the final five were asked "What important quality should a leader display amidst a pandemic?” and Roxanne gave a winning answer:
A leader should display having a green thumb because at this point in time we have a shortage in food supply so it's important to open the eyes of people to embrace having a sustainable life to start urban agriculture at their own homes after all a green life is a better life and I hope the leader will give that to us.
Below are winners of the four other titles:
