Ilonggo artists create street art tribute to Rabiya Mateo

Ilonggo artists have taken their support for hometown pride Rabiya Mateo to another level.

On Facebook, the Iloilo Business Park shared photos of a chalk art portrait of the Miss Universe 2020 titleholder by Kristoffer Brasileño, Jester Macabanti and Kyle Sarte.

The image shows Rabiya wearing a yellow top in front of the Philippine flag, with the sun used as her crown.

In an interview with GMA News Online, Kristoffer shared that they thought of using their talent to show their support for the Ilongga beauty queen.

“It’s our tribute to Rabiya as she prepares for the Miss Universe competition,” he said.

“We are very proud of Rabiya and win or lose, she will always be our queen as Ilonggos and as Filipinos,” he added.

According to Kristoffer, they were able to finish the artwork in almost four hours.

It is located at the Iloilo Business Park, where Rabiya had her grand homecoming after winning the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 crown in October.

Rabiya is currently in Florida to vie for the country’s fifth Miss Universe crown. The 69th Miss Universe coronation night is on May 17 (Philippine time). — BM, GMA News
