Chito Miranda shares classic photo of Parokya ni Edgar jamming at Club Dredd in 1994
The year 1994 was truly a monumental one for Pinoy Rock.
It was the year after Eraserheads broke into the mainstream, with numerous bands following suit and signing major record deals. Club Dredd on EDSA was very much the center of it all.
On social media, Chito Miranda reminded us all of that magical time with a black and white photo of Parokya ni Edgar performing on the Dredd stage.
"Nasaan ka nung 1994?" Chito asked on Instagram. "Kami nasa Club Dredd."
His wife Neri answered, "Nasa Subic, grade 4 palang po," while his friend Angel Locsin chided him saying, "Black and white? 80 years old ka na?"
The conversation on Facebook was a different matter all together, where the official account of Parokya ni Edgar shared the same photo.
Fans and musicians shared their own memories from back then, including Rico Blanco, who shared he was actually there during that particular Parokya gig.
“Nakasilip pa ata sa pintuan. Late ako niyan eh. Pagkatapos nung set niyo nakaupo na ako sa sahig sa harap ng stage nanood ng [Eraserheads],” he wrote.
As of writing, the Facebook post has reached 64,000 reactions and 7,900 comments.
Parokya ni Edgar debuted in 1993 and remains as relevant as ever to this day, with the band landing in the the Top 5 OPM artists on Spotify Philippines for 2020.
By the way, the photo was taken by Eddie Boy Escudero, the ultimate photographer of the '90s who covered the party scene: the bands, Malate, the raves and so much more. — Franchesca Viernes/LA, GMA News
