Art in the Park Online 2021: Special Edition will present Gridlock, a special exhibit of new paintings on canvas by noted Social Realist, Antipas Delotavo, the press release said.

Additionally, they said the pieces will  "take on the appearance of collages and contain rich visual detail, drawn out of the artist’s commitment to the study of nameless citizens that contribute to the nation."

Meanwhile, Leeroy New and Anna Bautista will take centerstage during the Globe Platinum Hour, while Robert Alejandro will host a special session of the junior set during Globe Platinum Hour of Kids, slated on Saturday, July 31 at 10am.

Leeroy, who is a creative tour de force working in fashion, film, theater, production design, performance, and the visual arts, has three projects lined up for this year's Art in the Park.

Meanwhile, the artworks of Anna, who is a young visual artist, will "tackle the concept of time, culture and philosophy, how these elements are all interlinked and constantly respond to each other."

Touted by many as the "Affordable Art Fair," Art in the Park took place every March at the Jaime Velasquez Park in Makati City. It postponed its planned the physical event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then pivoted to online later that year

The upcoming special edition is the second Art in the Park event this year, after holding an "8 days of Art" in February this year.

Art in the Park is organized by Philippine Art Events, Inc., for the benefit of the Museum Foundation of The Philippines in partnership with Globe Platinum and Bank of The Philippine Islands, with support from MACEA and Barangay Bel Air.

The art fair has raised approximately P20 million since 2006 for various projects of the Museum Foundation of the Philippines to expand awareness for the National Museum and its network, such as running a grants program for varied cultural endeavors, including publications support and international benchmarking tours by executives of the National Museum. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
