Venice jury wanted joint 'Best Actor' award for Dennis Trillo and John Arcilla, says Chloé Zhao
If it were up to the grand jury of the Venice Film Festival, Dennis Trillo would have been named Best Actor alongside John Arcilla for their performances in "On The Job: The Missing 8."
This is what "Nomadland" director and Academy Award winner Chloé Zhao said in a video Dennis posted on Instagram, Wednesday.
In the short clip, the Kapuso Drama King can be seen taking a selfie with the "Eternals" director.
"You are incredible," she said. "If we could give a joint award we would give it to both of you. We are not allowed to."
"Ok lang 'yun rekdi, Bawi ako next time!" Dennis quipped in the caption of the video.
"On The Job" producer Quark Henares also shared some behind-the-scenes anecdotes on Twitter.
"[Chloé] said she googled [Dennis] because she thought he was a real prisoner only to find out he was a matinee idol of some sort," he said.
Quark said Dennis had major fanboy moments in Venice and told the story of how he got Bong Joon Ho's autograph.
"He was like a schoolboy clutching his Parasite Storyboard Book. So the minute the awards show ended I went, 'Dennis, Tara?'" he said.
But me being expert stalker didn’t want to take any chances so I dragged Dennis to him and yelled “director bong! I produced On The Job and this..”

Bong’s eyes lit up and he told Dennis he loved his performance, which surprised me because Dennis is hardly recognizable in the film pic.twitter.com/iKcI3NRPLl
Director Erik Matti told them to do it later at the dinner, but Quark said he didn't want to take any chances.
"So I dragged Dennis to him and yelled, 'Director Bong! I produced On The Job and this...' Bong's eyes lit up and he told Dennis he loved his performance," he said.
"Bong then motioned to the jury members and they all excitedly swarmed Dennis. Cynthia Erivo told him she thought he was excellent," he said. "Sarah Gadon delightedly said he looked so different."
Dennis wore prosthetics in the film to get the appearance of having a broken nose.
