Michelle Dee on representing the Philippines in Miss U: 'The next chapter of my pageant journey is no longer my own'

Fresh off being crowned the new Miss Universe Philippines, Michelle Dee is already looking forward to representing the country at the global level of the beauty competition.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Michelle thanked the Miss Universe Philippines organization "for trusting me to represent the Philippines on the international stage."

"All the efforts and hard work I did to win the crown yesterday will not stop there," she promised.

"The next chapter of my pageant journey is no longer my own. It's for each Filipino that I will be representing in El Salvador," Michelle continued.

"Knowing this doesn't just inspire me. It pushes me to work even harder and to dream bigger. It pushes me to do whatever it takes to bring home the Miss Universe crown to the Philippines," wrote the Kapuso beauty queen.

According to Michelle, her mindset coming into the pageant was "it's not done until it's won."

"Winning this year validates not just to me but to every Filipino that with hard work, perseverance and passion, you can achieve anything," she added.

Michelle took the Miss Universe Philippines crown on Saturday on her second try.

She was previously crowned Miss World Philippines in 2019.
