Do beauty queens need to have an advocacy? Ahtisa Manalo, Gazini Ganados answer

Ahtisa Manalo and Gazini Ganados shared their thoughts on the practice of beauty queens to promote an advocacy during their pageant journeys.

On "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Monday, Tito Boy asked them for their reaction to what Gloria Diaz said about how some beauty queens have "empty words" when it comes to their advocacies.

Ahtisa said that some new pageant contestants have the perception that they need to have an advocacy, "but that's not really the case."

"It is a great plus to have something you're fighting for that's bigger than yourself," she said, but added that it's not a requirement for queens.

"And I think that sometimes they think that because Catriona [Gray] had the standard bearer, she had an organization that she was supporting, that everyone needed to have one."

Gazini added that "not every advocacy has to be posted."

"If you're giving with a grateful heart, you don't need to post it. So why do you need to publish it online na oh I'm still doing my advocacy, I'm still the same person that I was before," she said.

"For me, if your integrity really is there, you don't need to show everyone that I'm still the same person that I was before and they don't need to know."

Ahtisa, Gazini, and fellow guest Yllana Aduana are all stars of the film "Red Crown." It premieres in cinemas on October 28. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA News
