Kris Aquino says First Lady Liza Marcos handled her annulment
Kris Aquino revealed that First Lady Liza Marcos helped handle her annulment to James Yap in 2012.
On Thursday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the Queen of All Media shared details about her relationship with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and the First Lady.
"We've gotten together three or four more times and she's funny. She actually handled my annulment. MOST [Law] is Marcos Ochoa Serapio Tan. But I saw her twice when I was in their offices," Kris said.
During the interview, Kris also recalled having lunch with the First Lady for the first time about a year ago.
"I was very, very surprised that a year ago, actually, when I had lunch for the very first time with the First Lady, she is so smart that you could learn a lot just by listening to her," she said in a mix of English and Filipino.
Kris also shared their family connection, explaining that her maternal uncle's wife is the sister of the First Lady's mother. She clarified that they are not cousins by blood but are related by affinity.
"She was describing her summer spent in Luisita and saying, 'You were not yet born. You're not even in your mom's stomach, and I would be there,'" Kris said.
She also commended the Marcos administration for its position on the West Philippine Sea, which she connected to the legacy of her late brother, former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.
"Boy, they've been very respectful. They did not want to remove the name Ninoy Aquino International Airport," Kris said. "Perhaps what I admired most was that the President has fought for the West Philippine Sea. Maybe it's because, for me, that's Noy's legacy, and the fact that he is fighting for it as well. They're fighting for the Philippines."
In August, Kris and her sons gave the First Lady birthday cakes ahead of her 67th birthday.
