79-year-old in Rizal who broke down last year over lack of cash aid receives gifts from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A 79-year-old man who broke down over lack of cash aid last year has received gifts ahead of the holidays through the "Love Together, Hope Together" project of GMA.

In May 2020, Jose Lagumbay was spotted crying due to the uncertainty of receiving cash aid under the government's social amelioration program.

After his story was shown on television, numerous donors started giving aid, which he used to shoulder his wife's medical expenses for stroke and an injury. The rest, he also gave to those in need.

"Masaya ako 'pag ako naka-share ng natanggap ko. Tumataba ang puso ko," Lagumbay said.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation once again sent him gifts this year to thank him for being an inspiration by showing the spirit of giving despite being also in need.

Give and you shall receive, as they say.

Aside from his wife, Lagumbay is also caring for his children, one of whom has a disability.

"'Wag kayong magsawa na tumulong sa akin dahil meron pa akong asawa na may kailangan," he said.
