Herlene Budol says she no longer wants to join Miss Planet International

After the harrowing ordeal she experienced in Uganda for the Miss Planet International, Herlene Budol said she no longer wants to participate in the pageant.

In the latest episode of "Updated With Nelson Canlas," Herlene said she felt helpless and alone in Uganda amid the difficulties she and her fellow contestants experienced in the country.

"Sinabi ko po kay Sir Wilbert kung sasali pa po kami ng pageant, ayoko na po doon. Parang natatakot na po ako," she said.

("I told Sir Wilbert that if I were to join another pageant, I don't want to join [Miss Planet International] anymore. I'm now afraid.")

"Sobrang nabubuwisit ako pag naaalala ko," she added. "Hindi ko na ma-explain kung ano 'yung feeling ko nung time na 'yun, basta ang akin, ayoko na talaga ding balikan 'yung point na 'yun."

("I feel very annoyed when I remember it. I can't fully explain how I felt during that time but for me, I don't want to look back on that point again.")

Herlene previously revealed that she was chased by police carrying guns before she left Uganda.

She admitted that the incident left her with anxiety, on top of all the stress she went through due to the problems she had to face one after another.

First her national costume did not arrive in one piece, there was no food and hotel provided to the candidates, and Herlene ultimately had to withdraw from the competition.

Miss Planet International 2022 has been postponed to January 2023 and will be held in Cambodia, but Herlene no longer wants to revisit that part of her pageant journey.

"Siguro hahayaan ko na lang po 'yung tadhana na ang mamili kung saan po karapat dapat [sumali]. Kasi grabe na po 'yung napagdaanan."

("Perhaps I'm going to let destiny choose where I will [join]. Because what I went through was so grueling.")
