The GMA Kapuso Foundation and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening their partnership in disaster response through the foundation's Operation Bayanihan project.

According to "24 Oras" on Thursday, the MOU aims to fast-track the delivery of relief assistance to communities affected by calamities across the country.

"Ang layunin talaga natin dito is mapabilis ang paghahatid ng ating mga relief goods and services, lalo na sa mga syudad," said GMA Kapuso Foundation EVP and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog.

"Ang Philippine National Police kasi ang areas of responsibility nila are the city centers, so we're excited about the partnership and hopefully we'll be able to serve more people in the future," she added.

Through the partnership, the PNP will provide security and transportation assistance in areas under its jurisdiction during calamities. The PNP will also support the GMA Kapuso Foundation's other projects and initiatives.

Per PNP Chief Directorial Staff PltGen. Neri Vincent Ignacio, the partnership also highlights the "human side" of the police force.

"Ito ’yung nararamdaman na kung saan ito na ’yung human side ng Philippine National Police sa ating mga kababayan, na ang kapulisan na nagtatrabaho nang bente-kuwatro oras, halos isugal ang buhay. Ito na ang panahon na makikita ninyo ang trabahong ginagawa ng ating mga kapulisan,” Ignacio said.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, Shopee, and Palawan Pay. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information. —CDC, GMA News
