Kara David shares thoughts on tying with Ivana Alawi at FAMAS Broadcast Awards
Kara David shared her thoughts about tying with Ivana Alawi for Best Host for Public Service at the inaugural FAMAS Broadcast Awards.
On “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Wednesday, the multi-awarded Kapuso journalist said she respects all platforms, including mainstream journalism and vlogging.
“I respect it and I am glad that so many different people are using the power of storytelling to help others," Kara said in Filipino.
Kara also acknowledged that she, Ivana, and other people have different platforms.
“I just hope that when we do public service, it’s really for the public, not for ourselves," she added.
Kara and Ivana’s tie for Best Host for Public Service at the first-ever FAMAS Broadcast Awards was a much-talked-about topic online, with some netizens commenting that content creators should be separated from journalists in the category.
Kara won three awards at FAMAS, including Best Documentary for "Embalsamador De Motor" on "I-Witness” and Best Public Affairs Talk Show for "I-Listen."
Aside from being a top journalist and documentarist, she is also one of Filipino internet's favorite personalities. She has been dubbed the "Queen of Potential Sound" for her reactions and witty dialogues on TikTok. —Nika Roque/CDC, GMA News
